BETT PADGETT
“All the Tears in the World” The subtitle of this lovely acoustic CD is “songs of hope and courage.” Singer-songwriter Bett Padgett recorded this collection of her latest original songs in Raleigh (two of the songs, “House Carpenter” and “Wayfaring Stranger” are traditional/public domain).
The musicianship is tops. The steel-stringed guitars ring, and the chords and picking patterns are the perfect accompaniment to the introspective, melodic songs. On some songs, Bett’s clear, expressive voice has one guitar as backup, and other songs have flutes, cello, piano, and even sound effects flowing in and out. The happy-but-sad melodies sound timeless and tinged with Celtic wistfulness. A theme of digging deep and finding inner strength runs through many of the songs. In addition to Bett Padgett’s vocals, you’ll also hear David Groening on drums and percussion and Rachel Wilde on djembe and Turkish daf. Bett’s husband, Bill, whistles on “Rainbow Bridge Song” and also provides the sound of the heartbeat on the daf. You can purchase All the Tears in the World on CD Baby or Amazon.
